Glentress is now part of the 7 Stanes, a network of mountain biking trail centres being developed throughout the Borders.
For a different kind of buzz, the forest is home to the zip wires and treetop adventures of Go Ape.
You can also catch up with the Osprey Watch at the visitor’s centre, browse around the excellent Alpine bike shop and feast at the Glentress Peel Cafe

Borders back roads are excellent for road biking. Plan a route that takes in St Mary’s Loch, Grey Mare’s Tail and the Talla Reservoir.
Book a salmon beat on the River Tweed.
Peebles Golf Club and Cardrona Golf Club are beautiful parkland courses to the north and south of the town.
